band

Quinteto Fuego consists of five young and ambitious musicians, who all have a background in classical music. The band was founded in the autumn of 2001 and has been performing in the current line-up from 2005. Mostly, the band plays the music of Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) but their repertoire includes other Argentine tangos and similar arrangements, as well. In October 2004, Quinteto Fuego won the second prize in the international Piazzolla competition in Italy. The competition is a part of the annual Citta di Castelfidardo accordion festival.

When Quinteto Fuego first was founded, the members of the band just felt it was a welcome change from Mozart and Bach. However, as time went on, something struck the right note and tango became the most important thing. As these five fierce and talented musicians put their heart and soul into the music of Piazzolla, the result is more than the sum of its parts. Fuego offers the perfect opportunity to dive in to the passionate atmosphere of the Argentine suburbs!

When the members of Fuego are not playing Argentine tangos, you can find them for instance in a symphony orchestra, performing as soloists, accompanying music school students, playing Finnish evergreens or singing gospel pop somewhere around the world.
